More Diversions

Yeah so....
That list of things I wanted to get done?
It just got harder.

Today we went out and picked up the following:
Persona 3 FES (my first foray into the Persona games, and I'm liking it so far, but the whole "shoot yourself in the head to activate your special powers" thing is kind of disturbing)
Tales of the Abyss (also my first Tales game; watching the anime now, so I figured it was a good jumping on title)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX (never played one of these before, either)
Magna Carta: Tears of Blood (which is a sequel, but it doesn't seem to be a direct sequel, so I think I'm good)
Fallout 3 (more for the boy, but I have a mild interest)
GTA IV (which I will likely never play, so we're safe there)

So yeah. Whoops. ^_^

Abyss was good, but i still prefer Symphonia, that one is my favorite of the tales series

Symphonia is...on...the....gamecube? It wasn't a PS2 game, was it?

there is a PS2 port of Symphonia. It's basically the same game, but with a few more videos, and a bit longer load times =3

Haha, like I need longer load times. My PS2 is old and sooo slow. It's a wonder it still works, to be honest.
But I did enjoy the Symphonia anime as well (not as much as Abyss, I don't think). Still, as I said, I've never played a Tales game before, and it was just sitting there on the shelf, used, but still with the original box and even the game manual. And since I already know the story and characters, I figured it would be a good place to start.

It's not that they're too long or something like that, it's just that the gamecube game had almost no loading times XD

Whatever you do, don't play Tales of legendia for PS2, or you'll end up hating the franchise >_<

I love the fact as you stated you shoot yourself in the head to activate your powers...so fantastic!!!

As for Fallout 3...way overhyped if you ask me. I played for 3 days (yeah I know only 3 days) but about 80% of what I did was talking...I need some kind of action to keep the story going. I just found it rather boring.

GTA IV...pure brilliance nuff said. The story is awesome the gameplay is awesome and the online is just sick.

@Stier:
No Tales of Legendia. Gotcha.
I also heard that the recent Tales game for the Wii was only so-so as well.

@unit:
The head shooting thing is really...weird. It bothered me for a while, but I'm getting used to it. Still every once in a while I take note of it and kind of freak out, lol.

My boy is loving Fallout 3, but he really loves those open ended games. I like things to be more linear I guess; less "hours of endless wandering" and the like. I don't want complete linear play...one of my favorite parts of The Last Remnant is that I can run off doing side quests and exploring dungeons without ever touching the main quest..... Which is exactly what you do in Oblivion/Fallout I guess. I don't know, I just get kind of overwhelmed. I enjoyed Oblivion, though I never beat it. I beat just about all of the guild quests and most of the side quests, but barely touched the main at all. I got really tired and annoyed of climbing around in Oblivion gates.

The GTA games I recognize as good games, but I'll never play them. It's not something I like, as a genre, and I suck at driving, which is like, 90% of the game.

Meh, i've never been into GTA at all. It's a mediocre game. So-so graphics, so-so story, so-so controller, great soundtrack (that's the only thing i like about them), and that's all.

The hype about the GTA franchise, is doing all kind of corrupt stuff, that modern society would punish you, if you tried to do it in real life. That is not enough for me to make a game valuable.

Hi Templo! Thanks for stopping by!

As for GTA (again)....
I remember watching some people playing the last one, San Andreas, and I was really turned off by the gang story line and setting. I didn't find the main character interesting either.

I thought Vice City was alright, and even played that one a little bit (I mean a very little bit).

Running around stealing cars and jumping ramps is fun for a little while, but I'd get bored pretty quickly.

@Kris-chan: LOL @ "It just got harder."

For a second, I thought you'd list some "hot Asian guys", haha!

Yeah I know what people are saying about GTA IV, but I find the simple things in GTA IV fun. Like murdering everyone I see XD. I think this one had the best story out of all the other sequals. I do agree with you Kris on San Andreas...the whole gang thing wasnt my style.

I like open ended games as well,I think Fallout was just a little too open ended with not enough action inbetween.
