Fire Emblem: Shin Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Ken

The very first Fire Emblem game has been remade for the DS in Japan. How the crap did I not know about this? Well, no matter. I know now. And now I can wait in agony while they decide to never send it over to the US.

The Fire Emblem series is one of my favorite game series. It's what got me interested in tactical/strategy games. I'm seriously a freak for these games. I have all the ones that have come out in the US, and have played through them multiple times. The first Fire Emblem game to hit stateside is actually the 7th in the series. It was a prequel to the previous game in the series, and stars Eliwood, Hector and Lyndis. If you've played Super Smash Bros. Melee or Brawl, you'll recognize Marth from the first and third games, Roy from the The Binding Blade, and Ike from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

Since Fire Emblem for the GBA, they've been sending them over to America (mostly due to the popularity of Marth in the Smash Bros. games), so I hope they'll send this one along, too. I'd love to play the older games in the series, and since this one is a remake, that hopefully means they made the game more smooth (by doing things like highlighting a unit's movement range, and adding in the weapon triangle). From the screen shots and what-not, it looks like they have.

Please send the game over the ocean, Nintendo! I'll definitely buy one. I'll really enjoy it back on a hand held system. The console versions certainly have their advantages, but the game feels more at home on a portable.

Fire Emblem is not only one of the most interesting and challenging franchises that Nintendo has come up with, but every single game has a deep and marvelous story that makes them worth playing.
The first one I was able to play was FE VII, wich was the prequel to FE VI (the one starred by the lame brat known as Roy D= ), and after that I just fell for these games.
I already played FE I for NES many years ago, thanks to good old emulators, but I have high hopes on this remake.
The only thing that bothers me so far, is the fact that for a DS game the graphics are to similar to the GBA ones, and I'm pretty sure the Nintendo DS can do better (lazy Nintendo =P).

That's the first one I played, too. With Eliwood and Hector and Lyndis. I really, really enjoy the games. One of my favorite things to do is play through it over and over to build up all the different character relationships. Unfortunately the newer games don't save the conversations like the old ones did.

Also, the graphics for the DS remake are greatly improved over what we saw on the older GBA games. But yes, they are still lacking, especially when you compare them to the Final Fantasy DS remakes (which have some fantastic fully animated cut scenes). But then no one really plays Fire Emblem for the graphics, do they? :)

Here's a link to the trailer off of the Japanese Wii:
IGN.com has some nice screen shots, too.

FE VII was great. It has my favorite chars from all the games (Lyndis, Louise, Dorcas, Matthew, Rebecca and Eliwood), and has so many twist, I couldn't stop playing it over and over again. The only thing I couldn't take was Lyndis marrying Rath (nomads =P )
I hope they announce a remake of Fire Emblem III, wich is one of the best games also

My Lyndis married Hector. :) That was fun. They make an awesome couple.

Yeah but in the sequel you can see which were the real endings.
Too bad the game wasn´t as good as the prequel.
